Russian Women - Pros and cons of traditional women
Many foreign men seek to meet Russian women because they hear that Russian women and Russian brides are traditional women. However, many women list "financially stable," "not greedy," or "generous" as characteristics of men they would like to meet. To some this sounds like they just want a rich husband. Is this correct?
In the books of F. Scott Fitzgerald, the heroine was always intent to marry a man of "social standing," approved by her family, and for her family's acceptance as well as hers. We see this theme over and over in literature and film. Stories that take place in the age of the Traditional Woman-a time when a man would take financial responsibility for the family, and the woman would take care of the household and raise the children. If your grandmother (maybe even your mother) were to describe the type of man she was looking for, she would have listed the very same above characteristics.

The idea of marriage for "true love" is a relatively new concept. Even in the USA such thinking is barely forty years old. For most of the world, including Russia, marriage for "love only" still is not common. Marriages have always been for financial reasons every bit as much as for love. Finding a man who can support a family financially is a major consideration most foreign women seeking a husband, including Russian women.
The new Russian women phenomenon has men once again dreaming of Traditional Women-women who put family and the household ahead of careers and self improvement. But at the same time these men are tired of "materialistic" women in their local dating scene. Sorry guys. You can't have it both ways. If you can't accept the fact that "traditional" women, including Russian women, will consider your ability to support a family when deciding whether or not to marry you, then don't get involved with one.
Also keep in mind that "financially stable," "not greedy," and "generous" do not mean that you must be rich. "Financially stable" means just that - you have a stable job with a stable income. "Not greedy" means that the act of making money does not control your life. And "generous" more often means emotionally generous or supportive.
If a "traditional" woman is not what you are looking for, you don't necessarily have to give up your search for Russian women. There are many Russian women who are "modern thinkers" and career oriented, though most of these are the younger ones, under 25 years old.
